Diveagar in monsoon- A virtual photo journey

Stuck in city and office life for more than 3 months, there was a desperate need to escape somewhere out of Pune. Since getting a long leave was not an option due to the heavy workload, and due to the rumors of layoffs in the IT sector, thus only nearby places, which could be covered during the weekends, was possible.

Diveagar was long due on my travel cards, so started to find about it's feasibility in the rainy season. The very first search result about Diveagr was on tripadvisor which read - Don't plan in the rainy season.

My plans seem to shake a bit because we had to take our 3 years old daughter and my 65 years old mother-in-law with us. However having heard a lot of good reviews of Diveagar, from friends, we finally decided to go for it.

It was June 24th, 2017, when we woke up at 5 AM in the morning and started the long drive with my family. My brother and his family from Mumbai were going to join us at Diveagar. So full masti and dhamaal was expected.

Pune- Diveagar via Tamini Ghat

I would not provide any detailed route map in this blog, as same is eaisly available at no. of places and can also be viewed in google maps.

Pune to Divegar via Tamini Ghat is around 160 Kms, and it usually takes 3-4 hours if you travel without taking long breaks. However during the monsoon season it is hard to resist the charm and beauty of the Tamini Ghat, which is just awesome during the monsoon season. This route gives you a perfect weekend gateway during the monsoon season. It consists of beautiful mountains covered with clouds, heavy rainfall, gushing waterfalls, misty surroundings coupled with delicious hot food on the roadside dhaba, and lots and lots of masti during the journey, even before reaching the destination.

  • Tamini Ghat section:-

So if you are planning a road trip via Tamini Ghat then it is my advise to take some extra clothes so that you can enjoy the water falls and charming beauty of the ghats. After all it is all about the journey, destination is just a part of it.

Enjoy the journey, as the destination may or may not fulfill your expectations.

However it was really sad to see the irresponsible attitude of tourists, who love to party, but  fail to respect nature and follow basic civic sense.

It is my sincere request to all of you that, if you are planning any trip/trek, then please do not spoil the pristine beauty of the surroundings by leaving the plastic bottles or non-biodegradable waste etc. Please do not deprive the future generations of the magical beauty of nature, which we have inherited from our ancestors.

  •  Diveagar:-
After  getting down from the Tamini Ghat there is a drive of around 25-30 kms through villages, after which you will join NH17 at Mangaon. Here you may encounter heavy traffic for around 1/2 km after which you need to take a right turn into the state Highway 97. From here Diveagr is around 45 kms. The road is good overall.

Diveagar is a relatively clean and peaceful beach as compared to Alibaug and Kashid. It has lot of water sports facilities along with option of parasailing on the seashore.

Apart from that, the room rates of guest houses and home-stays are reasonable and often include breakfast and one meal in their rates. The sea food which you get here is delicious.

The best part of Diveagar beach is that you can even enjoy a long drive in your car, along the beach, which is around 5 kms long. This is not possible in Alibaug and Kashid.

The visit in monsoon season was an experience in itself. The dark clouds and the heavy downpour added to the charm and beauty. It was bit scary at times due to the heavy rain, but overall it was adventurous and exciting visit.

If you ask me- Should you visit Diveagar in monsoon season? My counter question will be why not?

Only tip is to carry 'Odomos' creams during the rainy season if you want a good night sleep.
